Elephants Never Forget – Thanks to PETA We Won’t Either

We are extremely excited to provide digital messaging and CRM software to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).  As you may know, PETA is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 2 million members and supporters.

Our Msgme platform will empower PETA to build mobile subscriber lists and otherwise inspire mobile and digital activism.  Our first campaign with the animal activists is “Elephants Never Forget,” and runs in conjunction with the Vans Warped Tour 2010.  PETA’s goal with the campaign, which aims to maximize visibility at stops on the national tour, is to remind concert-goers that elephants never forget the beatings and isolation that they suffer at the hands of the circus.

Mobile truly gives PETA the tools to deliver its message to a laser-targeted demographic of young music fans at the Vans Warped Tour (and for its future initiatives).

You can sign up to receive campaign information by texting NEVER to 73822 (PETA2).  Texters will also be added to mobile list for peta2—PETA’s youth division—and will be prompted to visit the PETA tent at the Warped Tour to pick up a free prize.

With Msgme, PETA has another platform for inspiring activism and getting members informed and engaged.  You can read more about the campaign on Tonic.

Stopping the Wild Horse Roundups During Derby Weekend

This past weekend, horse enthusiasts from around the world saw billboards urging them to “Stop Wild Horse Roundups” as they arrived in Kentucky for the much loved Kentucky Derby.

The campaign is a bid to save America’s iconic mustangs, which are being threatened by a federal policy that rounds them up by the thousands off the Western range and stockpiles them in government holding facilities in the Midwest.

“Stop Wild Horse Roundups” garnered some notable press attention prior to derby weekend.  Here is some of the recent coverage:

Derby goers texted MUSTANG to 44144 (Message and data rates may apply) to join the effort to save wild horses by asking Congress to suspend The Bureau of Land Management’s cruel wild horse roundups.  Texters were sent a URL to get more information on sending a letter to Congress to stop funding for the practice.

The billboards are sponsored on behalf of the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign (AWHPC) by coalition partners Return to Freedom’s American Wild Horse Sanctuary, Madeleine Pickens, The Cloud Foundation and Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue.

All The Wild Horses (Text MUSTANG to 44144)

Next month, as horse enthusiasts attend the three big horse events – the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, Keeneland Race and Sales and The Kentucky Derby – event goers will be greeted with billboards urging them to save America’s wild horses.

The American Wild Horse Preservation billboards debut this week in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky and ask citizen activists to text in to “Stop Wild Horse Roundups.”

The campaign looks to save America’s iconic mustangs threatened by a federal policy that rounds them up by the thousands off the Western range, and stockpiles them in government holding facilities in the Midwest.

By texting MUSTANG to 44144, mobile activists will be asked to join the effort to save wild horses by asking Congress to suspend The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) cruel wild horse roundups.  Texters will be sent a URL to go to for more information on sending a letter to Congress to stop funding BLM’s program and asked to forward the text to friends.

Kentucky is an international hub for horse enthusiasts and the perfect launch pad for the campaign.  With horse lovers from around the country coming to town, the organization is sure to build its mobile advocacy list and engage event goers with the cause.

We are honored to be a part of this campaign and look forward to helping The American Wild Horse Preservation successfully engage with activists to stop the roundups.
